The cytological examination Pap test (Pap smear) detects precancerous lesions of the cervix, and for this reason, it has been internationally established as a preventive examination for cervical cancer.
The Thin Prep (or alternatively, Pap test with liquid-based cytology technique) is the first true improvement over the classic Pap test since its introduction 50 years ago. It is the most reliable and sensitive method for preventive screening and diagnosis of cervical damage. Thin Prep allows for additional tests, if needed (such as the HPV-DNA test), to be performed on the same sample, without the need for a repeat visit and collection. Reliable global sources have proven that the Thin Prep Pap Test provides more accurate results (over 90%) compared to the conventional Pap test. The sample is collected in the same way, but with a special brush that is placed into a vial with a preservative solution.
