MARILY ASKOXYLAKI

MD, MSc, PhD Obstetrician – Gynecologic Surgeon

Marily Askoxylaki was born and raised in Athens.

She completed part of her medical studies at the Medical School of the University of Rome (Università di Tor Vergata) and graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a grade of “Very Good.”

She began her professional career at the General Hospital of Zakynthos “Agios Dionysios”, initially as a trainee in General Surgery and subsequently as a rural physician at the Agios Leon Rural Medical Practice in the prefecture of Zakynthos. She then worked at N.I.M.T.S. Hospital as a resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the General Hospital of Piraeus “Tzaneio” in 2015, when she was awarded the title of Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In parallel, she obtained a Master’s degree from the postgraduate program “Pathology of Movement” of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, graduating with a grade of “Very Good.”

During the same period, she completed her PhD thesis with distinction (“Excellent”) at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled: “Study of endogenous factors (selectin, resistin, estradiol, progesterone) and oxidative stress markers in relation to pharmaceutical protocols in women undergoing assisted reproduction.” Concurrently, she specialized in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at the Assisted Reproduction Unit of the University General Hospital “Attikon”.

Subsequently, driven by her strong interest in this field, she worked as a scientific and clinical associate at the Assisted Reproduction Unit (Universitäres Kinderwunschzentrum Lübeck-Manhagen) of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) in Lübeck, Germany, under the supervision of Professor Georg Griesinger.

She holds the ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) certification and has served as an instructor, contributing to the training of healthcare professionals in the management and treatment of obstetric emergencies.

She has a substantial scientific portfolio and has participated in numerous postgraduate educational programs in Greece and abroad, as well as in scientific publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

Since 2017, she has been running a private gynecology practice, where she applies her extensive clinical and surgical experience to provide modern and comprehensive gynecological care.

She is a core collaborator of the Institute of Life Assisted Reproduction Unit and the IASO Maternity Clinic.
